Production

Development and pre-production

In August of 2018, Tom Hardy declared that he would be the lead actor in three Venom movies. Hardy expressed interest in collaborating with the MCU and expanding Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU) before September 2021. Due to other obligations, director Andy Serkis did not fulfill his indicated desire to return, therefore Kelly Marcel took on the directing role for Venom 3, the final installment of the trilogy. In April 2022, Sony Pictures announced development, appointing $20 million to Hardy, who co-wrote the script. With the addition of Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor to the ensemble, filming got underway in June 2023. October 2024 is when the movie is supposed to be released.

Filming

Under the working title Orwell, principal photography on the movie got underway in Cartagena, Spain, on June 26, 2023. Fabian Wagner was the cinematographer for the project. The SAG-AFTRA strike forced a mid-July stop to filming. After the strike ended, the film's original release date of July 12, 2024 was rescheduled to November 8, 2024. On November 16, 2023, production got back underway. By February 2024, Clark Backo had joined the cast, and filming was almost finished.

Post-prediction

The movie was retitled Venom, The Last Dance in March 2024, and its October 25, 2024 release date was shifted. The June teaser trailer unveiled Rhys Ifans, Alanna Ubach, and Cristo Fernández as new cast members in addition to Peggy Lu and Stephen Graham in their respective roles. Ifans, who portrayed Lizard in earlier movies, and Fernández, who made an appearance in No Way Home, ignited rumors regarding ties across many universes. Supervisors of visual effects include Aharon Bourland and John Moffatt. Industrial Light & Magic, DNEG, and other companies handle the visual effects.
