Bitfinex will discontinue the offering of products and services to select UK clients in order to comply with local regulatory obligations. 

Bitfinex announces modifications for existing UK customers. Starting January 10, 2024, certain customers will be unable to make new deposits or enter into new contracts, but they will be able to reduce, close positions, and withdraw funds. Beginning November 1, 2023, new UK clients are unable to apply for individual account verification.

Exemptions for certain consumers

Bitfinex exempts high-net-worth corporate UK residents from the amendments. No new verification applications will be accepted for corporate UK residents unless they fulfill particular criteria or qualify for an exemption.

Bitfinex establishes high-net-worth standards for UK corporate residents based on UK legislation. Verification applications may request further information to validate eligibility.

Bitfinex was placed on the FCA's warning list.

Bitfinex was included to the UK Financial Conduct Authority's list of unlicensed entities at the end of October.

"You should avoid dealing with this firm," the FCA warned on its website at the time.

The financial regulatory authority stated that enterprises cannot market financial services in the country unless they have the proper authorization or approval. It further stated that Bitfinex is "not authorized by us and may be targeting people in the UK."
