The Dogecoin cryptocurrency was used to pay for the rescheduling of the DOGE-1 mission.

Samuel Reid, the CEO of Geometric Energy Company (GEC), has disclosed that Dogecoin (DOGE), a cryptocurrency, was used to enable the rescheduling of the DOGE-1 mission. The satellite was supposed to be launched by Elon Musk's SpaceX firm in February 2024, however preparation issues forced a reschedule. The utilization of cryptocurrency to reserve the rocket represents a novel strategy in the space sector, even though the precise quantity of DOGE coins sent to SpaceX remained undisclosed.

With its array of sensors and cameras, the DOGE-1 spacecraft seeks to both gather information from the Moon's surface and carry out promotional tasks. The film will be streamed on Twitch and YouTube, and advertisements will be shown on a screen mounted on the satellite. Elon Musk continues to have a major impact on Dogecoin and the cryptocurrency market as a whole; Dogecoin is still available for purchase on the Tesla store. Musk does, however, still support Dogecoin, even though its price is currently fluctuating in the market at $0.078.

Tesla still has significant Bitcoin reserves of $184 million, even though Musk's position on the cryptocurrency is less clear. Musk, though, has stated that he is hesitant to take Bitcoin payments. The cryptocurrency market is still changing in the middle of these changes, partly due to the influence of well-known people like Elon Musk.
