This week, Solana Mobile, a division of Solana Labs, announced that a non-transferable Preorder Token will be given to each and every person who places a preorder for the new Chapter 2 web3 phone.

The Solana Saga phone debuted last year cost $1,000, but the Chapter 2 phone was originally announced last month at a lower price range of $450. In the end, Solana dropped the price of the Saga to $599, but sales did not pick up until the middle of 2023.

This was altered when the meme coin BONK declared that owners of Saga would receive a complimentary 30 million BONK tokens. The Saga experienced an unexpected spike in demand, with some used phones selling for more than $2,000 on eBay.

Being the owner of a Saga phone and the genesis NFT that goes with it has made it possible to obtain lucrative token airdrops. Owners of Saga have already gotten free token drops from NFT project Saga Monkes, crypto publishing platform Access Protocol, and BONK.

For instance, when the $30 million BONK airdrop was first reported, it was valued at about $700. Later, 99,000 ACS tokens—worth $250 at the time—were granted to Saga owners by Access Protocol.

It appears that the goal of the Chapter 2 Preorder Token drop is to increase interest in Solana Mobile's new phone. Within the first day of the device's announcement last month, the business announced that over 25,000 pre-orders had been placed for the Chapter 2, already exceeding the Saga phone's first-year sales total.
