Mobile Giant Netmarble Teams With Saga in the Marblex Gaming Network

Major South Korean mobile game developer Netmarble's blockchain division, Marblex, revealed on Wednesday that it will use the Saga gaming protocol to power its next cryptocurrency games.

Launching and promoting cryptocurrency games together, Marblex and Saga are billed as a "comprehensive collaboration." Saga will assist with user acquisition, and Marblex will use its layer-1 blockchain network to support its own chain. Both companies will promote these games through their own channels.

Marblex CEO Hong Jin-Pyo stated in a release that "Saga has a brand and ethos that is truly dedicated to enabling the next generation of gaming." "Putting a priority on bridging the very wide gap between traditional and Web3 gaming provided Saga with a succinct understanding of what developers need to get us there."

The foundation of Saga is the idea of chainlets, which can be combined to power apps and games in a similar way to how a typical game might employ many instances of cloud computing. Saga's CEO and co-founder Rebecca Liao earlier referred to it as a "chain to launch chains" in an interview with Decrypt's GG.

Additionally, it is made to facilitate cross-chain development, allowing studios who have released games on other blockchains to utilize Saga's network to support their business operations. In addition, Saga has partnership agreements in place with the people behind Polygon, Avalanche, and Celestia. This is how Marblex intends to use Saga.

Several games that are being developed on Saga's network, as well as games on other chains like Avalanche and Polygon, are now participating in a "play-to-airdrop" campaign. The airdrop campaign isn't currently connected to Saga's partnership with Marblex, a spokeswoman for Saga told Decrypt's GG, but Saga is "definitely exploring future ones" with partners, "including Marblex."

"Saga is still refining the Web3 user acquisition machine for gaming, and Marblex will bring their community as part of our joint go-to-market," Liao stated to GG at Decrypt.

Approximately 80% of the 320 projects that the network claims to be building on it are games. Play-to-airdrop events will continue to award players with SAGA token allocations while Saga prepares to launch its mainnet in the spring.

Games from well-known current series, such as Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds and The King of Fighters Arena, are supported by Marblex. The MBX token, which has a market capitalization of about $69 million, is the foundation of the chain.
